The Faroe Islands are a photographer’s dream. John Barclay has explored and found all the treasures over the many times he has been there. He is an awesome leader. Besides bringing his knowledge of the Faroes and of photography he is flexible, attentive to the needs of his group and a lot of fun to be around.

John and Cathy were both fabulous leaders on this trip. They sure know the area and did their homework for ideal spots before the tour started. As a newcomer to John's tours, I appreciated his "checking in" on me to make sure I was ok at various stops. The group he gathered was fun, knowledgeable and easy to be with. We travelled far and wide across the Palouse and I was not disappointed. Hoping I have the chance to join the Barclays again!

I'm so glad I was able to join friends on this trip to the Faroe Islands; it also was a plus that all of us on the trip became fast friends easy travel companions; great accommodations, great food & great company; and John's overall planning and ability to pivot the days' agenda (either due to weather or the personal needs of those in our group) proved successful in enabling all of us to fully experience the natural wonder of these islands. We have been workshop attendees with John Barclay for many years, since 2014.. His workshops are always well planned, educational and fun! This was my second time to the Faroe Islands with John, and again a fantastic experience! John chooses locations with beautiful views, many unknown to tourists, and often with interesting weather conditions. He provides 1:1 teaching or assistance, always willing to help. The Faroes are a wonderful cultural as well as travel experience. I highly recommend this workshop, as well as any workshops or tours organized by John. We are already planning to go on at least one more John Barclay Photo Workshop in 2017!

This trip was organized by great friends who attended this fantastic trip with me. The scenery was very different to Australia. John had selected specific spots according to the conditions of the day. Flexible planning, explanations of why that area was selected and what to expect on arrival. Many backways and byways providing excellent photo opportunities and detailed assistance when required. The leadership was friendly and supportive and attentive to the participants needs which was repaid by a lovely group of fellow photographers selected by John and his wife Cathy. The degree of difficulty was low with shooting from close to the car, taking into consideration the physical ability of each participant. Great variety of subjects not confined to distant landscapes. I have four thousand images to process and Johns suggestions on processing techniques which will lead to many great memories and some unique photos for the walls of my home. The best trip I have ever had. Thanks John and Cathy and fellow participants whose friendship will endure.
