This was a great workshop! John and Robb did a fantastic job of getting us to less explored or photographed areas. The accommodations were first class. Like all of John's workshops, this one was excellent.
Traveling with John is like setting out with a group of friends. Some of them you don't know well as yet but you are one big friend group by the end. Yosemite was magnificent. What can one say that will due it justice? Having Robb Hirsch, photographer, author and expert on Yosemite, with us created a really personalized experience. We photographed in lots of off-the-beaten-path places. The whole week was magical. John always creates amazing photography experiences which I'm sure is why every single member or our group had traveled with him before. We all just keep coming back. Now I have the fun of sorting and editing my 1200 images. This just adds to the fun and the memories.
Going into the Retreat, I thought (or hoped?) I had some elements of my Vision, but was a little skeptical about whether or not I could make it significantly sharper by the end of the week. I had no idea of what the week would entail. I was doubtful of my ability to recognize what my Vision is. I discovered I do indeed have a vision, but, that it was covered in barnacles. Lots of barnacles! During the week, Cole, John & my fellow participants helped me scrape off quite a number of those barnacles. Thank you!
For me, the week was mentally exhausting, but at the same time strangely invigorating. I went to bed each night with my head spinning with the conversations & thoughts of the day, and looking forward to what tomorrow would bring. The time I invested was absolutely worth it! I’m more excited now that I have ever been about my future life as a photographic artist.
P.S., when you attend, be sure to ask John to share the “Bill story”.
Not quite knowing what a vision retreat would entail, I arrived in the glorious landscape of Colorado with no expectations. What I discovered far exceeded anything I could have imagined. The depth of connection and conversation that unfolded among the participants was remarkable. Through deeply personal exchanges, the retreat became a profound exploration of why I create. That clarity instilled greater confidence in my vision and renewed my trust in pursuing my creative process more deeply.
Cole and John are exceptional leaders whose foremost concern was the physical and emotional safety and comfort of every participant. Well done, gentlemen.
